Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 3,   Pages 422-437 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000642

Abstract: This paper presents a novel multiple-outlier-robust Kalman filter (MORKF) for linear stochastic discrete-time systems. A new is first proposed to evaluate the similarity between two random vectors from dimension to dimension. Then, the proposed MORKF is derived via maximizing a based cost function. The MORKF guarantees the convergence of iterations in mild conditions, and the boundedness of the approximation errors is analyzed theoretically. The selection strategy for the similarity function and comparisons with existing robust methods are presented. Simulation results show the advantages of the proposed filter.

Selective reduction of NO by photo-SCR with ammonia in an annular fixed-film photoreactor

YiangChen CHOU, Young KU

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2012, Volume 6, Issue 2,   Pages 149-155 doi: 10.1007/s11783-010-0296-9

Abstract: Gaseous NO was photocatalytically reduced at room temperature by photo-assisted selective catalytic reduction (photo-SCR) with ammonia over TiO in this study. NO reduction efficiency and N selectivity were determined from gases composition at the outlet stream of photoreactor. Effect of operating conditions, e.g. light intensity and inlet concentrations of ammonia and oxygen, on the NO reduction efficiency and N selectivity were discussed to determine the feasible operating condition for photocatalytic reduction of NO. Experimental results showed that selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia over TiO in the presence of oxygen was a spontaneous reaction in dark. The photoirradiation on the TiO surface caused remarkable photocatalytic reduction of NO to form N , NO , and N O under 254 nm UV illuminations, while almost 90% of N selectivity was achieved in this study. The ammonia and oxygen molecules played the roles of reductant and oxidant for NO reduction and active sites regeneration, respectively. The reduction of NO was found to be increased with the increase of inlet ammonia and oxygen concentrations until specific concentrations because of the limited active sites on the surface of TiO . The kinetic model proposed in this study can be used to reasonably describe the reaction mechanism of photo-SCR.

Iteration framework for solving mixed lubrication computation problems

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2021, Volume 16, Issue 3,   Pages 635-648 doi: 10.1007/s11465-021-0632-8

Abstract: The general discrete scheme of time-varying Reynolds equation loses the information of the previous step, which makes it unreasonable. A discretization formula of the Reynolds equation, which is based on the Crank–Nicolson method, is proposed considering the physical message of the previous step. Gauss–Seidel relaxation and distribution relaxation are adopted for the linear operators of pressure during the numerical solution procedure. In addition to the convergent criteria of pressure distribution and load, an estimation framework is developed to investigate the relative error of the most important term in the Reynolds equation. Smooth surface with full contacts and mixed elastohydrodynamic lubrication is tested for validation. The asperity contact and sinusoidal wavy surface are examined by the proposed discrete scheme. Results show the precipitous decline in the boundary of the contact area. The relative error suggests that the pressure distribution is reliable and reflects the accuracy and effectiveness of the developed method.

Trajectory planning of mobile robots using indirect solution of optimal control method in generalized point-to-point

M. NAZEMIZADEH, H. N. RAHIMI, K. AMINI KHOIY

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2012, Volume 7, Issue 1,   Pages 23-28 doi: 10.1007/s11465-012-0304-9

Abstract:

This paper presents an optimal control strategy for optimal trajectory planning of mobile robots by considering nonlinear dynamic model and nonholonomic constraints of the system. The nonholonomic constraints of the system are introduced by a nonintegrable set of differential equations which represent kinematic restriction on the motion. The Lagrange’s principle is employed to derive the nonlinear equations of the system. Then, the optimal path planning of the mobile robot is formulated as an optimal control problem. To set up the problem, the nonlinear equations of the system are assumed as constraints, and a minimum energy objective function is defined. To solve the problem, an indirect solution of the optimal control method is employed, and conditions of the optimality derived as a set of coupled nonlinear differential equations. The optimality equations are solved numerically, and various simulations are performed for a nonholonomic mobile robot to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed method.
